Ivory: GLOW Pioneer, Attitude Era Champion, and WWE Hall of Famer
Early Career & GLOW Beginnings
Lisa Moretti, known worldwide by her iconic WWE ring name Ivory, began her professional wrestling career in the mid-1980s. Her national TV debut came in 1986 as Tina Ferrari in the groundbreaking promotion GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Trained by Mando Guerrero, her natural athleticism, quick technical execution, and vibrant screen presence made her an immediate standout.
During her tenure in GLOW, she captured the GLOW Championship and held tag team gold alongside Ashley Cartier. She continued to build her reputation across various independent circuits—including Powerful Women of Wrestling (POWW) and the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association (LPWA)—proving her ring work and athletic credibility long before joining mainstream sports entertainment.
WWE Breakthrough & Attitude Era Championships
Ivory debuted in WWE in early 1999 as a valet alongside Mark Henry and D’Lo Brown. Her veteran experience and physical toughness quickly transitioned her into the women’s division, where she immediately established herself as a primary force.
Her career reached major championship heights across multiple reigns:
-
Three-Time Women’s Champion: She captured her first WWE Women’s Championship in June 1999 and went on to hold the title three times, battling top rivals like Debra, Jacqueline, and Lita.
-
Hardcore Pioneer: She participated in the first-ever women’s hardcore match in WWE history, demonstrating her physical grit and adaptability.
-
Right to Censor Era: In late 2000, Ivory joined the villainous Right to Censor faction. Embracing a conservative persona, she captured her third Women’s Championship and held the title through WrestleMania X-Seven, where she famously defended it against Chyna.
Broadcasting, Coaching, & Media Work
As her full-time in-ring schedule wound down, Ivory transitioned seamlessly into corporate, coaching, and broadcasting roles. She served as a trainer on WWE’s popular reality series Tough Enough, mentoring emerging talent and sharing her deep technical knowledge.
She also co-hosted broadcasts like WWE Experience alongside Todd Grisham, showcasing her articulate communication skills, sharp humor, and professional hosting presence. Her ability to pivot into media roles highlighted her longevity and value as a multi-talented industry veteran.
Independent Legacy, Animal Advocacy, & Digital Presence
Following her full-time departure from WWE, Lisa Moretti continued to compete sporadically on the independent circuit, winning titles like the NWA SuperGirls Championship. Beyond wrestling, she dedicated her post-ring career to animal welfare, volunteering for shelters and founding a successful pet care business in Washington State.
While maintaining a grounded private life, she remains connected to fans through special appearances, wrestling conventions, and podcasts. She frequently shares her love for nature, animal rescue work, and wellness, radiating positivity, authenticity, and grace.
WWE Hall of Fame & Cultural Impact
In 2018, Ivory was officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Her induction celebrated a career spanning four decades, honoring her as a true bridge between the pioneering era of GLOW and the modern women’s evolution in sports entertainment.
Her legacy is defined by technical excellence, character versatility, and unmatched longevity. Ivory remains a respected legend whose trailblazing path continues to inspire female athletes across the globe.
